Police: Man arrested after firing, throwing gun in Lynchburg neighborhood
LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET) -- Lynchburg Police have arrested a man in connection with a shots fired call Thursday night.
Police said that responded to the call around 9:52 p.m. in the 400 block of Walnut Street.
They said officers spotted a person run behind one of the houses in that block and throw a handgun in the yard while running.
According to police, 33-year-old Sammie Lee Jones III was arrested without incident.
Jones is charged with Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Possession of Ammunition by a Convicted Felon, and Possession of a Stolen Firearm.
He is being held at the Blue Ridge Regional Jail without bond.
