Police: Man arrested after chase from Appomattox to Rustburg


RUSTBURG, Va. (WSET) - State Police say a man is in custody after a pursuit Friday evening.

Appomattox County Sheriff Barry Letterman says a deputy tried to stop the man near the Kroger shopping center when he fled the scene around 6:40 p.m.

About a dozen officers, including State Troopers and Appomattox deputies, chased the man for about 15 to 20 minutes.

According to state police, they ended up in the 5900 block of Red House Road in Campbell County.

Police put down spike strips, but say the man was able to avoid them by going behind a house.

State Police say they were able to stop him in the driveway.

The man has not been identified, and police weren't able to confirm why he was pulled over.
