Police: Lynchburg man now facing 53 child sex crime charges; used fake name online
LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET) -- A Lynchburg man already facing 42 child sexual exploitation charges is now facing child porn charges, according to police.
The Lynchburg Police Department said Jared Anderson, 40, is now charged with 11 counts of possession of child porn.
Police announced Friday that Anderson had been charged with 21 counts of taking indecent liberties with a child under the age of 15 and 21 counts of use of communications systems to facilitate certain offenses involving children after a six month multi-state investigation.
Lynchburg Police said they've been working with the Fargo Police Department in North Dakota, along with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Fargo, ND Resident Agency, and the North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigations on the case.
Anderson was arrested without incident in the 2500 block of Langhorne Road on Friday.
He remains in custody with no bond.
Police said that their investigation also uncovered that Anderson was using a fake name, Brian Thompson, on various social media and dating websites.
Anyone having unwanted contact with Anderson while he was using the name of Brian Thompson is asked to make contact with Det. K. T. Poindexter at 434-455-6167.
