Police looking for vehicle involved in hit and run that left woman in critical condition

    BOTETOURT Co., Va. (WSET) -- State Police said it's investigating a hit and run crash involving a pedestrian on Route 11 across from the Pepsi Plant in Botetourt County.

    Police said the crash happened Wednesday around 5 a.m.

    The Botetourt County 911 center got a call claiming a woman was on the ground and unresponsive.

    When troopers arrived at the scene at 5:07 a.m., they determined that Joyce Bandy Moxley, 55, of Roanoke had been hit by a vehicle that was traveling south on Route 11, toward Roanoke.

    Police said Moxley was walking to work when she was hit by the vehicle and was taken to Roanoke Memorial Hospital in critical condition.

    Evidence at the scene suggests the vehicle that fled the scene was a General Motors truck or SUV.

    State Police are asking the public, insurance companies, and body shops to notify police if a vehicle with right front side and right side mirror damage comes is serviced. The damage could include the headlight, marker light, right front fender, and passenger mirror.
