Police: Lynchburg man charged with shooting 28-year-old in Roanoke

    ROANOKE, Va. (WSET) -- Roanoke Police are investigating a shooting that left one man wounded.

    Police say they responded to the intersection of Campbell Avenue and 3rd Street SW at around 2:40 p.m. Wednesday.

    When they arrived they found a John Perdue, 28, laying on the sidewalk suffering from gunshot wounds.

    Perdue was taken to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital for treatment by Roanoke Fire-EMS.

    Officers on the scene saw a person running away from the intersection as the "shots fired" call was aired.

    They stopped the person and identified him as Michael Armstead, 25, of Lynchburg.

    Armstead was arrested and charged with Malicious Wounding and Use of Firearm in Commission of a Felony.

    Police say both men knew each other.

    Police say the investigation is ongoing, and there is no danger to the public.
