Police: Deputies kill bank robbery suspect near Lexington

ROCKBRIDGE Co., Va. (WSET) - State Police say a bank robbery suspect was killed Friday in Rockbridge County.

Police say a man robbed the Cornerstone bank, in the 700 block of N Lee Highway, just before 11 a.m. and was confronted by Rockbridge County deputies.

The sheriff's office says deputies found the man behind a building near the bank.

According to State Police, the man aimed a gun at the three deputies, and deputies shot him.

State Police say EMS gave the man CPR, but he died at the scene.

According to the sheriff's office, the suspect in Friday's robbery appears to be linked to another robbery at the Cornerstone bank in September.

The sheriff's office says the deputies are on paid administrative leave pending the State Police investigation.

The man has not yet been identified.
