ROANOKE Co., Va (WSET)- Roanoke County Police Officers have identified the driver in a fatal tractor trailer crash in Roanoke County.
They say Jeffery Sutherlin of Check, Virginia was pronounced dead at the scene.
Wednesday night authorities were called to Catawba Valley Drive at Keffer Road.
The tractor trailer had been traveling southbound on Catawba Valley Drive when it ran off the right side of the roadway.
The vehicle struck a telephone pole and then a tree before coming to rest.
Police say Sutherlin of Check, Virginia was wearing a seat belt and drugs were not a factor in the crash.
Weather was also not a factor in the crash.
According to AEP, currently 88 people in that area are without power due to the crash.
AEP says they hope to have power back on by 7 a.m. on Thursday.
The road had been blocked but police tell us that the road is now passable.
The crash is still under investigation.
