LYNCHBURG, Va (WSET) — Lynchburg police say they have found the man who they were looking for as a witness in a Lynchburg man's death investigation.
Police said Tuesday they located and spoke with Steven Church in Nashville, Tennessee on May 23, and that he "provided a statement outlining events" preceding the death of Johnny Cashman. Police say he was cooperative with detectives.
On April 19, police found the 38-year-old Cashman dead in his Kemper Street apartment, after his family hadn't heard from him and asked for a welfare check.
Later that morning, investigators told his family that he died from an apparent medical condition.
About ten days later, the family received pictures showing blood throughout the apartment and door camera video from a neighbor dated April 14, the last day Cashman's mother had spoken with him.

In that video, you can hear Cashman yelling "what are you doing" and "stop" over and over. You see a man who police later identified as Steven Church walking out of Cashman's apartment moments later.
As of now, police say the investigation remains ongoing.
The FBI in Richmond has confirmed they are assisting in the investigation.
