ROANOKE, Va. (WSET) -- The Roanoke Police Department said they are investigating after a body was found in the Roanoke River Greenway Monday afternoon.
Police said they got a call about a person in the river around 12:30 p.m.
Responding officers found an adult man that was deceased.
They closed the river from the Piedmont Street, SE to Walnut Avenue, SE, but it has since been reopened.
Police said they do not suspect foul play.
A car, appearing to be a black Ford Taurus, left in the Piedmont Park parking lot is part of the investigation.
The body has been transported to the Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy to determine the official cause of death.
This is an ongoing investigation.
