HALIFAX Co., Va. (WSET) -- The Halifax County Sheriff's Office said an 'armed and dangerous' man, last seen in Botetourt County could be making his way back to Halifax County or Mecklenburg County.

Investigators said William Roberts used a credit card at a convenience store in Botetourt County just after midnight Sunday.

Officers responded to the area stores and reviewed video that showed Roberts attempting to get gas in a white Ford F-150, they said.

It appears he stole a truck from the Dagger Springs area of Botetourt County, the sheriff's office reported, and video at one store provided a tag that came back to a home on Dagger Springs Rd.

The owner of the truck confirmed to police that it was stolen.

Roberts was last seen driving the truck with tags XLT-8584, heading south on Route 220 around 12:30 a.m. Sunday.

The Halifax County Sheriff's Office said the stolen truck also should have an OBX and CALUSA sticker in the back window.

They said Roberts has several outstanding warrants, including grand larceny of a vehicle in Botetourt County.

His last known address is South Hill.

Roberts has been on the run from police since Friday, and is also wanted out of Colorado for a felony traffic offense.

Anyone with information please call the Botetourt County Sheriff’s Office at 540-473-8631 or the Halifax County Sheriff's Office at 434-476-3334; if you come across Roberts, do not try to contact him, instead call 911 or your local law enforcement.
