Police: Two suspects wanted for Henry County murder captured in Texas, N.C.
SAN MARCOS, Tx. (WSET) -- The man wanted for murder in Henry County has been taken into custody 1,336 miles away.
The Henry County Sheriff's Office said Jake Lewis was caught in San Marcos, Texas Tuesday night.
The San Marcos Police Department said its detectives, along with SWAT team members, took Lewis into custody on Craddock Avenue while he was armed with a handgun, although police said he was arrested without incident.
San Marcos Police said it got a call from law enforcement in Virginia saying they believed Lewis was there.
"By following up on information from many sources, we were able to pinpoint an address for the suspect at The Met Apartments," said SMPD Commander Kelly Bomersbach.
He is currently being held awaiting extradition to Henry County, Virginia.
Lewis, 23, of Reidsville, N.C. was wanted for first degree murder and use of a firearm during the commission of first degree murder.
The sheriff's office said deputies, along with the Henry County Department of Public Safety and Axton Life Saving Crew were called to Keen Drive in Axton around 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, February 18 in regards to a man who was found dead inside his home.
Captain Wayne Davis, with the sheriff's office, said a second suspect, identified as Dylan Alan Day, 18, of Reidsville, N.C.was also charged with first degree murder and use of a firearm in the commision of first degree murder.
Day was arrested by the Rockingham County Sheriff's Office in North Carolina on Wednesday, February 21 and is currently being held awaiting extradition to Henry County.
