Police: 22-year-old arrested after shooting man in the arm, fleeing in SUV
ROANOKE, Va. (WSET) -- Roanoke Police said they've arrested a man for shooting another man in the arm.
Police said officers responded to the 100 block of Avendale around 11:30 a.m. Monday, April 23 where they found 33-year-old Durell Deandre Graham, of Roanoke, with a gunshot wound in his arm.
Graham said he was standing in front of an apartment when he was approached by the suspect, who pulled out a gun, then shot him in the arm.
He said the suspect then fled in a silver-colored SUV.
Graham was taken to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital by Roanoke Fire-RMS.
Based on the investigation, police said 22-year-old Bobby Lewis Smith, Jr., of Roanoke, was identified as the suspect.
Police said the two men knew each other.
Around 2:15 p.m. the same day, officers stopped a vehicle that matched the suspect's vehicle in the 5900 block of Green Ridge Road.
Police said Smith was in the vehicle, along with two passengers.
Smith was arrested and charged with malicious wounding and taken to the Roanoke City Jail.
The case is still under investigation.
