Police: 19-year-old in critical condition after being shot in the head in Roanoke
ROANOKE, Va. (WSET) -- A 19-year-old is in critical condition after police said he was shot in the back of the head in Roanoke Tuesday night.
Police said they responded to the 1600 block of Eastern Avenue, NE in reference to a shots fired call around 10 p.m. where they found a victim with a gunshot wound to the back of his head.
They said the victim, who's been identified as Jacob Aldridge, of Salem, was taken to Roanoke Carilion Memorial Hospital where is is listed in critical condition.
Responding officers preformed a search of the immediate area where the victim was located and a suspect was not found.
Homes in the area were evacuated by the Tactical Response Team, but homeowners were allowed to return to their homes around 8:30 a.m.
No arrests have been made at this time.
Police said the investigation is ongoing.
