Police: 11-year-old charged with shooting 8-year-old in Roanoke
ROANOKE, Va. (WSET) -- Roanoke Police said an 11-year-old boy shot an eight-year-old girl in Roanoke last month and has now been charged.
Police said the eight-year-old was shot on December 21, 2017 at a home on Bradshaw Road and flown to Roanoke Memorial Hospital by helicopter.
At the time, police reported it as an accidental shooting.
The 11-year-old has been charged with reckless handling of a firearm.
Police said the two children are not related, but they do know each other.
They said the eight-year-old is continued to recover from her injuries in the incident.
Due to their age, no further information is being released.
