ROANOKE Co., Va. (WSET) -- Officials in Roanoke County say they responded to a brush fire in a remote area of Poor Mountain Saturday afternoon.

They say the fire was called in at around 1:30 p.m.

Officials say career and volunteer personnel from Fort Lewis, Back Creek and Bent Mountain stations took about two hours to contain the fire to approximately 2-3 acres.

They say they expect to spend several hours on mop up with assistance from the Virginia Department of Forestry.

Firefighters believe a bird hit a power line, and that sparked the fire.
