Lynchburg police, SWAT teams remain at a home for a "high risk" warrant

UPDATE: Friday, March 15 at 2:57 a.m.

Several SWAT teams and negotiators are still on the scene. Police have not yet released information on the "high risk" warrant they have attempted to serve at a home in the 1,000 block of McVeigh Road.

An officer has been allowing residents to drive to their homes down McVeigh Road from the Leesville Road entrance. We're told the Lakeview Drive entrance is still blocked.

Police are letting people back into their homes on McVeigh Road.


LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET) - Lynchburg Emergency Communications confirm a road has been blocked off because of a police presence Wednesday evening.

Officials say Lynchburg Police officers are serving a "high risk" arrest warrant on McVeigh Road.

Neighbors say the situation started around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Emergency Communications says that road is currently closed.

Officers could be heard asking someone to come out of a home with their hands up.

People who live in the area say they haven't been able to get to their homes.
