LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET) -- A new drive-thru restaurant could be coming to Wards Rd. where a gas station used to sit.

Lynchburg City Council is set to talk about rezoning the spot for the new restaurant at its meeting on Tuesday.

In its request, the petitioners (owners), in the document it lists Workman Oil as the owners, said they want to redevelop the recently demolished establishment in keeping with the current development along the Wards Road Corridor.

They said to serve the anticipated tenants, a drive-thru service window would be needed, and in order to fulfill that need, additional fill is needed to provide a travel way behind the proposed structure.

The property is located next to the strip that includes Vinny's Italian Grill, Sweet Frog, Firehouse Subs, and nTelos Wireless.

It's not clear what drive-thru restaurant would be coming to the spot.
