Nelson Co. superintendent retiring after 4 years with school system
NELSON Co., Va. (WSET) -- The Nelson County Public Schools superintendent has decided to step down after 35 years in education, and four total years as the superintendent at Nelson County.
"I have very much enjoyed Nelson as we have great students, a wonderful staff, and excellent facilities," Jeff Comer said. "However, I have found that my energy and enthusiasm has diminished somewhat, which can be detrimental in a role that requires a great deal of time and commitment."
Comer said there was no pressure from the school board to retire.
He said it was a personal decision and, although, he doesn't know what the future holds, he hopes to continue at least part-time in some role in education.
