BEDFORD, Co. (WSET) - Monday was the groundbreaking for the newest exhibit at the National D-DAY Memorial. Construction for a Quonset hut will begin this week.
The hut will be used for educational purposes and hold artifacts.
It was donated by the Rings, Peter and Fleda.
Fleda passed away this past July, and it will be called the "Fleda Hut" in her memory.
She wanted to make sure the community continued to honor veterans.
April Cheek-Messier is the president and CEO of the National DDAY Memorial Foundation.
"This keeps their memory alive, in away we can show them oral histories, where we can interact with them, show them the artifacts, that they don't have the opportunity to do right now," said Cheek-Messier.
The hut should be ready by Memorial Day.
Just in time for the 75th anniversary of D-DAY.
