Multiple accidents in Lynchburg during icy morning


LYNCHBURG, Va . (WSET) -- Emergency crews are responding this morning to accidents in Lynchburg.

We have an ABC13 crew reporting from the scenes of these accidents.

There are three accidents we know of as of 6 A.M. Tuesday morning.

Authorities say all of them are weather related.

Many roads in Lynchburg are slick with ice following rain on Monday and frigid temperatures.

According to Lynchburg Department of Emergency Services, there is an overturned vehicle on the 29 Expressway southbound at Candlers Mountain Rd.

A blocked lane has just cleared.

There is also a tractor trailer accident on Mayflower Dr. near John Capron Rd.

We know that the driver is okay.

According to police, there is another accident on Route 29 North at exit 2-B, the exit for River Ridge Mall.

A vehicle slid on ice , hit a light pole, and went up an embankment.

Police say the driver did suffer from a knee injury and crews took him to the hospital.

Lynchburg Department of Emergency Services is urgiung extreme caution as you hit the roads this morning.
