LU student arrested in connection to LPD child porn investigation

Jeremy Whorley (BRRJ)

LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET) -- Liberty University confirmed that a student employee is the subject of a Lynchburg Police child porn investigation.

Jeremy Cole Whorley is currently enrolled in Liberty's Masters of Business Administration Program and is employed by the university.

Whorley was arrested Tuesday, July 10 after police got a search warrant at his home in the Heritage Circle area in connection to an investigation into the sharing of child porn online.

Police said he's charged with 10 counts of possessing child porn.

Whorley is currently being held at the Blue Ridge Regional Jail in Lynchburg with no bond.

Liberty said it is taking appropriate actions, including suspension, pending the outcome of the matter and cooperation with law enforcement.

This arrest comes nearly two weeks after a Liberty University professor was arrested in connection to an ongoing investigation into the online sexual exploitation of a child.

Stephen Kilpatrick, an associated professor of mathematics, traveled to meet someone he believed was underage and was taken into custody by ICAC investigators.

Anyone with information regarding the incident with Whorley is asked to contact Detective K.T. Poindexter at (434) 455-6167 or call Crime Stoppers at 1-888-798-5900.
