Liberty University football player arrested for assault, strangulation
LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET) -- A Liberty University football player was kicked off the team after being arrested for assault and strangulation.
According to Head Football Coach Turner Gill, redshirt freshman cornerback Keith Best was "dismissed" from the team for violating the team's policy.
Court records say Best was arrested Wednesday and is facing several charges.
Those charges were misdemeanor assault, damaging a phone line and preventing a 911 call, strangulation, and abduction.
According to Lynchburg police, the incident happened on the 1300 block of Wards Ferry Road early Wednesday morning, and that a woman is involved.
Best spent two years on the Flames team, but did not play in a single game.
