LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET) -- Liberty University will be announcing its choice for the Flames' newest coach Friday.

This announcement comes after former Head Coach Turner Gill announced his retirement December 4.

An LU source said the new coach is Hugh Freeze, formerly of Ole Miss.

Freeze was also the high school coach of Michael Oher and was depicted in the movie, "The Blind Side".

In 2017, Freeze resigned from his position at the University of Mississippi amid reports that he had used his school-issued phone to place a call to an escort service, according to The Washington Post.

The Athletic Director said school officials discovered a 'pattern of personal misconduct inconsistent with the standards we have come to expect from the leader of our football team.'

According to The Washington Post, Freeze claimed he didn't know why the call was on his phone and that it might have been a misdial.

USA Today reported an email was sent to the school's general counsel about a "phone call Coach Freeze made that would be highly embarrassing for all of you and extremely difficult to explain."

A news conference will be held at Liberty University for the formal announcement at 2 p.m.
