LCA Bulldog helps win state championship 9 years after devastating accident on same field

LCA Bulldogs after State Championship game (

SALEM, Va. (WSET) -- The LCA Bulldogs are State Champions for the third time in four years. And a special teammate helped take home the win.

Noah Robbins took the field with his teammates on Saturday to win the 4A State Champs title; but it wasn't his first time on that field.

Nine years ago, Noah was hit in the head by a foul ball at Salem Memorial Field.

His mother, Jodi Robbins says his head injury was so severe they thought he would not live through the night.

"It reminded me that nothing can get in the way of God's plans," Ms. Robbins said in a Facebook post. "He knew back then that we would be back there today and that Noah would help his team win this game!"

The Bulldogs broke loose for six runs in the second en route to an 8 to 5 win over Hanover; the team that edged the Bulldogs last year for the title.

Congratulations, Bulldogs; and congratulations, Noah!
