A kitten was found clinging to life on the side of Route 460 Sunday night.

A good Samaritan rescued the kitten from the side of the road and took her to Central Virginia Regional Rescue.

At the shelter, the kitten was warmed up, given fluids and fed through a syringe.

The kitten, now named Olivia, spent the night at Animal Emergency & Critical Care of Lynchburg Sunday night.

At around 4:30 a.m., Central Virginia Regional Rescue took to Facebook to give an update on Olivia's recovery.

"Looks like our little friend is working hard to survive," the shelter said.

Olivia is beginning to show signs of recovery. Her blood sugar and temperature are rising, and she is more energetic than when she first arrived.

"We are so grateful for the loving staff and for what we can begin to hope might be a happy outcome," the shelter posted.

The shelter will be holding donations for Olivia Monday afternoon. A private individual will be matching all donations.
