ALLEGHANY Co., Va. (WSET) -- The Botetourt County Sheriff's Office is looking for a man they said is on the run from police.

Sheriff Ronnie Sprinkler said the 911 dispatcher center got a call around 5:30 a.m. that Alleghany County Sheriff’s Office deputies were in pursuit of a stolen vehicle.

Botetourt deputies responded to the North County Area between Eagle Rock and Iron Gate to assist in the pursuit, when Alleghany County said deputies had lost sight of the vehicle in Iron Gate.

At least six Botetourt deputies responded to the area searching for several hours, but the vehicle was never located.

Shortly before 2 p.m., the sheriff's office said it got information that the suspect from the vehicle was believed to be at a home on Dagger Springs Rd. near the Gala Community.

Multiple deputies, state police officers, a helicopter, Rockbridge County deputies, as well as officers from the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries responded to the location and are currently searching the area.

Investigators said the suspect is William J. Roberts, 34, from South Hill.

Roberts is also wanted out of Colorado for a felony traffic offense.

Investigators said Roberts should be considered armed and dangerous.
