Insurance agents suggest homeowners prepare homes for storms in wake of Hurricane Florence
LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET) -- With Hurricane Florence on its way, insurance agents in Lynchburg want to make sure your homes are prepared for the worst.
Nelles Insurance Solutions says these are great times to have discussions with your local agent to make sure there are no gaps in your homeowners insurance coverage.
This is video from the flooding back in August.
If you live in a flood zone, David Nelles said you should already have flood insurance from FEMA.
That takes a month to kick in once you do get it.
Nelles suggests insurance owners make an inventory list for their homes and businesses.
That includes plenty of photos and videos as well.
"They can pull out a cell phone, they can pan rooms, they can pan their closets show all the handbags, purses and electronics and gadgets and things like that you have, just to make sure you are covering those," Nelles Insurance Solutions President David Nelles said.
He suggests making sure once you make your inventory, store in a safe place it off of the property you are trying to protect.
