Human remains found in Halifax Co. identified as man reported missing in 2002
HALIFAX Co., Va. (WSET) -- The Halifax County Sheriff's Office says human remains found in August have been identified.
The sheriff's office said a Timber Company was working in the Crystal Hill area and was estimating the amount of standing timber the forest contained and while he was timber cruising on a farm, he came across a skeleton of human remains.
After investigating, the sheriff's office said it immediately sent the human remains to the Medical Examiner's Office in Richmond.
Two months later, the sheriff's office said it got the DNA analysis report from the Medical Examiner identifying the human remains as Harold Ray Jones, Jr.
Jones was reported missing in March 2002.
Investigators said no foul play was suspected in the case.
