Horizon Behavioral Health will kick off its Family Check-Up (FCU) organizational model on Friday.

The kick-off will celebrate the implementation of the new FCU model, an evidence-based program (EBP).

Horizon said it is honored to be selected as the first agency and pilot site to implement the FCU model in Virginia. The new program will serve youth ages 2-17, and their families, with a family-centered and strengths-based approach to mindful parenting, tailored to family strengths and needs.

The Virginia Commonwealth University Center for Evidence-based partnerships in Virginia, Horizon Behavioral Health, and Virginia Department of Social Services will present information on the FCU model and review expectations for the implementation of the EBP in Central Virginia.

“We are truly excited to join together with partners from our local community, VCU, and DSS to implement a model for families and children rich in research-based outcomes to improve the health and wellness of children and families.” Says Jennifer Smith Ramey, Outpatient Program Manager at Horizon Behavioral Health. “We are honored that Horizon was selected as the pilot site for FCU implementation. Our team of clinicians and supervisors are eager to learn the model and begin practicing FCU in Central Virginia.”
