"He's stabbing them": Man accused of killing elderly couple to go before grand jury
DANVILLE, Va. (WSET) -- The man accused of killing an elderly couple and injuring their daughter back in November will soon go before a grand jury.
In court today, a judge found probable cause in the case against Onis Moon who is accused of stabbing Valean and Royal Barley to death.
Tensions ran high as the Commonwealth played a 9-1-1 call made by their daughter.
Family cried and embraced each other in the back of the court room as they listened to the daughter yell to dispatch "he's stabbing them."
Danville police say Moon stabbed Valean Barley and her husband Royal to death at their Lexington Avenue home.
Both were in their 80's, and Royal Barley was in a motorized wheelchair.
Police say the Barleys' daughter was dating Moon, and she was also seriously injured during the incident.
Police arrested Moon a few blocks away, and the court showed footage of the arrest from the officers' body cam.
You can hear Moon saying, "I just did that, you got a call I did that."
"It's a tragedy," said Lt. Chivvis with the Danville Police Department. "They're crying now months later in the court room. The one living surviving victim has to heal physically and emotionally."
Lt. Chivvis interviewed Moon the night of the incident and testified saying Moon was disheveled and was asking God to forgive him and that he deserved to die for taking their lives.
