Henry Co. Sheriff asking for assistance locating robbery suspect

HENRY Co., Va. (WSET) -- The Henry County Sheriff's Office says they are investigating a robbery that occurred in the Old Chatham Road and Green Hill Road area of Martinsville.

The incident occurred at 6:31 p.m. Friday.

Police say a man who appeared to be in his late twenties flagged down a citizen/victim, telling the victim his vehicle was out of gas.

The victim gave the man a ride to the Daytona Mart at 1960 Old Chatham Road and bought gas.

Police say that when the victim and the man returned to the broke down car, the man produced a handgun and demanded the victim's wallet, keys, and cell phone.

After robbing the victim he left the area in a blue Ford SUV with a license plate that had a 76 in it.

Police say the suspect is a man in his late twenties, about 5'0"-5'8" tall, wearing blue jeans and a t-shirt.

The Sheriff's office is asking for your help identifying the suspect in the robbery.
