CAMPBELL CO., Va. (WSET) - Thursday the Gladys Volunteer Fire Department honored and remembered a hero.
They told ABC 13 Dennis Nash, a member of the department for 45 years, died earlier in the week.
Nash had Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer.
The fire department described him as a large part of the community and was always willing to help. "He was just a giving person. He donated time, his equipment. He just really reached out and helped his community," said Rudell McCraw, a member of the fire department.
The fire department said Campbell County and even President Ronald Reagan recognized Nash for his heroic actions with the fire department.
