FRANKLIN Co., Va. (WSET) -- There was no winner for the $1 billion Mega Millions jackpot on Friday, but someone in Franklin County is celebrating because they still won a chunk of change.

Whistle Stop has a lucky streak going. The gas station on Old Franklin Turnpike sold the winning $1 million ticket on Friday, and also sold one last year.

"I feel like some kind of luck because last year we sold, so I thought it was accidentally," said Jay Rana, an employee of the gas station. "This year I can definitely say yeah we have some luck."

Customers feel the same way. Whistle Stop is the go-to place to buy lotto tickets for many.

"It's the lucky store. This is the lucky store, and we pass it every day," Troy Mendenall and Rosemarie Linn said.

"This is the only store I buy tickets from when we do buy tickets," Brian Bell said.

Rana says business is booming for the Mega Millions tickets.

He says one customer even drove an hour just to buy tickets from that store.

"One girl she came in and she said she came from Roanoke just to buy for lottery," Rana said. "That's just kind of a surprise here."

The Mega Millions jackpot is now sitting at a record-breaking $1.6 billion.

Even with a one in 302,575,350 chance in winning, folks already know how they would spend the money.

"I have some nice lakefront property down there that I would like to buy," Linn said. "A nice trip to Greece. Help all my friends and family."

"Pay off my house," Bell said.

"Maybe I'm going to start my own business," Rana said.

The next Mega Millions drawing is on Tuesday, and the winner will take home over $1.6 billion.
