VSP: ATF to assist in investigating cause of massive fire at abandoned outlet mall

UPDATE: 11:15 a.m.

Virginia State Police fire investigators are working to determine the cause of a fire at Fort Chiswell Factory Outlet Mall, as well as where the fire started.

The fire was discovered at the abandoned mall early Friday morning.

The mall has been abandoned for some time and there have been no reported injuries.

The Virginia State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation's Wytheville Field Office is investigating the incident.

According to officials, due to the significant size of the structure and amount of destruction, police have requested the ATF to assist with the investigation.
