Former P.E. teacher accused of sexually assaulting minor
FRANKLIN Co., Va. (WSET) -- A former Franklin County P.E. teacher has been accused of sexually assaulting a minor.
According to the school's website, Clyde Smith worked as a P.E. teacher at Sontag Elementary School, but he has now been removed from the website.
Smith was indicted Monday by a grand jury on three counts of aggravated sexual battery of someone under the age of 13.
According to the Franklin County Public School's superintended, Mark Church, Smith has been placed on administrative leave until the matter is resolved.
"Because this is a personnel matter, I will not comment any further at this time," Church continued.
Online court records show the alleged incidents happened between January 2015 - May 2017 and it's unclear where the allegations happened or what Smith's relationship is to the accuser.
Court records also list Smith as a fugitive and warrants have been sent out for his arrest.
No court date has been set for any of the charges.
