DANVILLE, Va. (WSET) — At approximately 11:47 a.m., the Danville Fire Dept. responded to Woodberry Hills Elementary School for a reported structure fire.
Thomas Napier, Jr., DFD Battalion Chief, says crews arrived within four minutes of being dispatched to find heavy fire and smoke on the rear corner with fire extending into the building.
Crews searched the school to verify that no one was occupying the building. Crews also checked the roof for any fire but did not find any.

Napier says DFD responded with 3 engines, 1 ladder truck, 1 support unit and 1 command unit consisting of 16 people.
Danville Fire was helped on the scene by Danville Police, Danville Life Saving Crew, Danville Electric Dept., Danville Water & Gas and Danville School maintenance.
DFD Fire Marshal's Office and Danville PD Crime Scene are investigating the cause of the fire. No injuries were reported to fire personnel.
