Fifth and Federal restaurant now open in downtown Lynchburg
LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET) -- The construction along the roundabout on Fifth Street in Lynchburg is complete and Fifth and Federal is officially open for business.
The restaurant serves southern style fare, with meats smoked on site, ribs, wings, steak, barbecue, and pasta.
The old service station turned restaurant has a whole lot of character, including a full service bar made from a batteau dating back to the 1850s. The owner said there will be a fire pit outside and eventually a stage for a live band.
The bar has more than 100 varieties of bourbons and scotches.
The Lynchburg Regional Business Alliance said having a strong service industry is essential to a healthy economy and draws people in. "A thriving, active, urban downtown signifies to anybody looking to relocate a manufacturing facility or industry or start a business in the region that we are a growing, thriving, pedestrian friendly hub," said Megan Lucas, the CEO of the Chief Economic Development Officer.
