ROCKY MOUNT, Va. (WSET) — The Rocky Mount Police Department shared on Sunday that two of their off-duty officers attended an event in Washington D.C. last Wednesday.

The Town of Rocky Mount says that while it fully supports all lawful expressions of freedom of speech and assembly by its employees, it does not condone the unlawful acts that occurred on that day.

Based on available information, the police department has notified federal authorities and the individuals who were present at the event are on administrative leave pending a review.
