ARLINGTON, Va. (7News) — A 25-year-old Falls Church, Va. man is facing charges after Arlington police said he assaulted an officer Sunday, Sept. 17.
Officers said they were conducting a traffic stop for a tow truck operator in the 4000 block of 5th Road N. around 5:30 p.m.
According to officers, a man who was the owner of the vehicle being towed arrived at the location and began acting “disorderly.”
When an additional officer arrived on the scene and began to talk to the man, he allegedly lunged at the officer, according to police.

The officer attempted to detain the man when he shoved the officer and fled the scene on foot, police said.
Officers said they initiated a foot pursuit and took the man into custody.
The man was identified as 25-year-old Patrick Martinez of Falls Church.
Martinez was arrested and charged with assault on police, disorderly conduct and public intoxication, according to officers.
Officers said the tow truck driver was cited for the initial traffic stop.
