DANVILLE, Va. (WSET) -- Danville's Museum of Fine Arts and history has completed their new exhibit.
"The Movement: Danville's Civil Rights Exhibit" highlights Danville's Civil Rights Movement.
The museum will hold an opening reception starting at 2 p.m. on Saturday to honor Emma Edmunds, the historian who donated the exhibit to the museum.
Edmunds, a native of Halifax county, spent 15 years researching and creating the exhibit. She previously said although the city has come a long way, she hopes her work will encourage Danville residents to be more connected to the community.
The Director of the Museum says the new exhibit will include a side of history that some Danville residents feel is forgotten.
"Danville Museum of Fine Arts and History represents the entire Danville community and that all the history is embraced and disclosed through our programming," said executive director, Elsabe Dixon.
Dixon adds this is just a blueprint of information for those interested in learning more.
The museum's exhibit will be open until 5 p.m.
