UPDATE: Danville man sentenced to 30 years for murder

UPDATE: {}A Danville man will spend 30 years behind bars after he shot and killed another man{}in March.{}

The Commonwealth's Attorney's Office said Travis Tarpley went to pick up his child from the mother's home.{}{} They say Lyndon Lee Johnson was there, and the two got into an argument.

After they exchanged punches, Tarpley pulled out a gun and shot Johnson, piercing his heart and killing him -- according to prosecutors.{} Tarpley pleaded guilty to First Degree Murder, Use of Firearm in Commission of a Felony, Discharge Firearm Within Occupied Dwelling, Possession of {}Firearm by Non-Violent Felon.{}{}


Danville, VA - 28-year old{}Travis Deshae Tarpley, of Danville, was arrested in Greensboro, NC on charges stemming from a shooting.According to Danville police, they responded to a home on Myrtle Ave for a report of a man who had been shot.The man was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead according to police.According to police the deceased man has been identified as 49-year-old{}Lyndon Lee Johnson.Tarpley is currently charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and with discharging a firearm in an occupied dwelling.
