The City of Danville has two new fire trucks on the way.

According to Virginia-based Atlantic Emergency Solutions, the city ordered two new fire engines: a Pierce Aerial Tower and Heavy Duty Rescue Pumper truck.

The new engines will replace older ones in the city. The aging trucks will be moved to backup status.

According to City Manager Ken Larking, the City replaces a fire truck each year.

Larking said when a ladder truck is replaced, they build up two years of funds and skip one year of buying a truck. The funding is mostly local with a portion coming from state aid.

Larking said the additional ladder truck that is being purchased this year is per the development agreement with Caesars Entertainment and will be paid by Caesars Entertainment.

It is projected to be used primarily to support responding to their development and the surrounding area.

There is no word on exactly how much the new trucks cost or when they will be delivered.
