ROCKBRIDGE Co., Va. (WSET) - State Police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run that happened in Rockbridge County Friday morning.
According to police, a vehicle was stopped on the right shoulder near mile marker 205 on the northbound side of the interstate.
State Police say the driver was out of the vehicle and was hit and killed just before 1:30 a.m.
Police don't have a description of the vehicle, but believe it may be a freight-line tractor trailer.
According to state police, the vehicle involved should be missing part of a plastic bumper on the side of the road and have headlight damage.
Police want anyone who was traveling in that area to call them at 1-800-542-5959 or #77.
Virginia State Police have not released the identity of the person who was killed.
The crash caused the right lane to be closed until about 7:12 a.m.
