Community holds vigil for man killed in Danville shooting

DANVILLE, Va. (WSET) -- Friends and family of Arthur Anderson gathered on the Southside remembered him after he was shot and killed in Danville early Monday morning.

Groups of people gathered around candles on Rocklawn Avenue to remember a life taken too soon.

People were huddled around each other, holding one another and sobbing as they remembered Anderson.

Anderson was found on the 200 block of Rocklawn Avenue by police with a gunshot wound, and later died from his injuries.

The family says it meant a lot to them that so many people came out for the vigil.

Aderson's first cousin, Lakisha Anderson, said she wanted one thing.

"He's in a better place now and may God rest his soul and get him justice for what happened to him," Lakisha Anderson said.

Another vigil is planned for Anderson on Rocklawn Avenue Tuesday, May 15 at around 8:30 p.m.
