The Lynchburg, Altavista and Campbell County communities are stepping up to help the family of the pedestrian who was struck and killed by a car on Wards Road Monday.

The family said that they are left devastated after 26-year-old Jennifer Marsh lost her life on Monday.

Trisha Lynn Marsh, Jennifer Marsh's mother, said, "Our family is devastated at the loss of our beautiful Jennifer. The outpouring of love and support from the Altavista and Lynchburg communities has been amazing. We are truly blessed to have so many friends and relatives and people we don't even know showing so much love and support. We will never forget the kindness and love shown to us and her two little boys."

Marsh leaves behind a mother, brother, fiancé and two children, according to her family.

"Jennifer was a sweet, fun-loving girl," adds Jennifer's mother. "She loved her boys. Tristan just turned 5, and Grayson will be 2 in December."

Following the tragedy, the community is doing its part to step up to honor Marsh.

A GoFundMe was set up by a friend of the family. Marsh's place of work, Buffalo Wild Wings, is putting together a fundraiser to help ease the financial burden of planning a memorial service off of her family's shoulders.

"Jennifer was a ray of sunshine," Vincent Garner, the manager at Buffalo Wild Wings off Wards Road where Marsh worked for 5 months, said. "She was always a smiling face."

Garner is sending part of all sales on Monday, Nov. 30 to Marsh's family, a move that was approved by the restaurant's corporate office. He said the fundraiser will go on all day.

All you have to do to help the family is eat at the Buffalo Wild Wings off Wards Road any time throughout the day.

On Monday, Buffalo Wild Wings is open from 11 a.m. until 12 a.m.

"This is a great opportunity to show that a community is supporting each other in tragic times," Garner, said.

The Buffalo Wild Wings restaurant was the last place Marsh was before walking home from work. State Police say Marsh died when a cab driver was unable to avoid her walking along the side of the road.

"It was just extremely sad," Garner said. "It's something when you heard you just had to sit down and think about. It's just extremely sad for her family and her kids. They're going to be growing up without her."

Friends are also giving one final gift to Jennifer by setting up a GoFundMe.
