Businessman pays off nearly $30,000 in layaways for military families
VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WSET) -- A Virginia Beach businessman made Christmas extra special for several military families.
Luke Hiller paid nearly $30,000 in layaways at the Oceana Navy Exchange the weekend before Christmas.
WTKR reported that Hillier got to meet some of the people in person, but most found out when the Navy Exchange called them to come pick up their items.
They also set up a surprise meeting between Hillier and David Santiago, who was deployed for most of 2018 and whose wife recently found out she was pregnant. He had put a crib and stroller on layaway.
Hiller ended up helping more than 120 families this holiday season.
