State Police identify man killed in vehicle crash on US-460 in Campbell County


    UPDATE (12:34 a.m.) - State Police say the driver that was thrown out of a vehicle on US-460 has died.

    Police say the driver was 40-year-old Jason Lutz from Bedford.

    Lutz was pronounced dead at the scene.

    Authorities say he was not wearing a seat belt.

    Police say the family has been notified.

    The road is now back open and the scene is clear.


    CAMPBELL COUNTY, Va. (WSET) - According to State Police, one person was ejected from a vehicle when it hit a guardrail in Campbell County.

    Police say that person was the driver of the vehicle.

    Police say the driver was on US-460 when they ran off the left side of the road, rolled over, and hit a guardrail.

    The call came in at 9:12 p.m. on Wednesday.

    At this time, we do not know the extent of injuries.

    The single vehicle accident is on Turkey Foot Road on US-460.

    Drivers should expect delays as some lanes remain closed.

    An investigation is underway.
