ROANOKE, Va. (WSET) -- Roanoke police are investigating a death after a man was found dead on Sunday morning.

Roanoke police say the unresponsive man was found in the 300 block Elm Ave. at Bud’s Suds, a local car wash.

When officers arrived, the body was found and pronounced deceased. Police say there were no signs of foul play.

A nearby business owner said the man lived at the Rescue Mission homeless shelter.

Those who knew him say he was a good person and his life was cut way too short. "He was a generous, nice person," said Roanoke resident, Junmall Boyd. "He cared for a lot of people. He did a lot for everybody. It's a shame that they found him dead and everything, but you know, may God rest his soul."

In addition to many friends and acquaintances in the area, we are told he also had children. We are not releasing the man's identity until police have notified family members.

The body was transported to the medical examiners office for further examination.

We will update you once we get more information.
