At least 3,500 people expected at Naughty by Nature, Big Daddy Kane concert in Lynchburg
LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET) -- Two big names are bringing their talents to Lynchburg this weekend for the Riverfront Park Concert Series on Saturday.
Organizers with the Academy Center of the Arts say there could be close to 3,500 people at Riverfront Park Saturday to see Big Daddy Kane and Naughty by Nature.
The capacity at the park is roughly 4,000 people.
Last year they got up to 3,500 for the George Clinton concert and they are expecting a similar turnout.
The academy says the Riverfront Concert Series is all about providing arts to as many people as possible.
Tickets are $11 and they are hoping you take advantage of the cheap price.
Geoffrey Kershner with The Academy says getting the community involved is what it's all about.
"Our mission is to serve the community through arts and culture, and one of the things we've been really interested in, particularly before the theater opens is increasing our impacts numbers, making sure that w're providing the arts to as many people as possible," he said.
Doors open at 5 p.m.
Tickets are being sold online, but you can also call the box office at (434) 846-8499 for tickets as they are staying open until 8 p.m. Friday.
You can also get tickets at the door.
There will also be two more similar concerts this summer; one in July and one in August.
