Winter weather canceled for the weekend
The WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY has been canceled.
Lynchburg, VA (WSET) -- After rain entered the area last night, and stayed with us through the overnight, most locations are starting to dry out this morning. It’ll be short lived. More rain, and even some snow, will be mixing in through the afternoon and evening.
Watch for more rain to develop as we go through the morning. For the afternoon, look for rain showers for most of us east of the Blue Ridge, West of the Blue Ridge and in the border counties with West Virginia, look for some snow to mix in with the rain.
- TIMING: Look for the snow to start mixing in with the rain (especially northern and western sections) around noon. Mostly just rain east of the Blue Ridge.
- ACCUMULATION: VERY Minimal. Maybe 1-3” in the Highlands and border counties with West Virginia. Perhaps a coating on the grass in areas just east of the blue ridge. Mostly, again, just rain, along the Southside and far eastern counties. This accumulation will be on the grassy surfaces. Roads will be wet, but shouldn’t be affected all that much.
- IMPACTS: Aside from disrupting your outdoor events, and causing wet roads, this will be a fairly low impact event.
Overnight, look for the precipitation to end. Temperatures will be quite chilly, in the 20s. Some slick spots may be possible on some of the roads overnight, but that should be the exception rather than the rule.
Looking ahead, Sunshine returns for Sunday, by far the pick day of the week. Another minor winter event may impact us on Monday. We warm up to spring like temps by weeks’ end.
